Contents:

·      Golden Goal game board template

·      36” x 48” project board

·      6 colored circular chips that represent players, 3 for each team (red-U.S.A. and black-Nigeria)

·      Soccer Ball (small red chip)

Basic Description of the Game Concept:

·      The game can be played with 1 or 2 players on each of the 2 teams.

·      The game board is an 8 by 12 2” squares grid. The squares labeled “GOAL” are the goal area. The 4 corners labeled “START” are the starting positions of the game (if there are only 2 players, place them in the starting positions diagonally to each other). To begin, the ball is placed in the circle in the center of the field.

·      Bonuses, labeled “+1”, and penalties as black squares are scattered throughout the playing field. The bonuses reward the team with 1 extra point. The black penalty squares result in a player returning to his or her original “START” box.

·      Basic elements of this board game include a storyline, but mostly skill and strategy. There is a simple, beginning story concept behind this game as mentioned in the introduction. As a component of skill, the players must have the skill to flick their player chips into the appropriate boxes to gain points, avoid penalties, and try to get the ball into the other team’s goal. The element of strategy comprises the use of both 1 offensive and 2 defensive chips for each team.

Game Setup:

1.     Select a team by choosing the red or black chips.

2.     Place your offensive or “O” chip on the “START” box to your right side.

3.     Likewise, stack the 2 defensive or “D” chips on the left “START” box.

4.     Finally, position the soccer chip in the center of the game board within the black circle.

Practice Play Mode:

Before the championship game begins, you must have your players warm up and practice scoring a few goals. Each team alternates their turn after completing a task. For example, after the red team completes task # 1, the black team has to complete it, before the red team can move onto the second task.

1.     Aim your offensive or “O” chip towards the soccer chip, placed in the center circle of the field and be sure to
make contact with it.

2.     Place the soccer chip randomly onto the board and use the offensive or “O” chip on the “START” box to
knock the soccer chip into the goal, using 3 flicks at most. Each team must score 2 goals before they are ready to play the championship game.

Game Mechanics and Basic Rules:

1.     The 2 teams decide amongst themselves who will start the game and go first.

2.     For the first turn, the player must flick his offensive or “O” chip towards the soccer chip in the center of the playing field. Then, the next team will do the same with their “O” chip.

3.     Next, at least 1 of the defensive or “D” chips should be moved,
not flicked, onto the board using a maximum of 3 squares in any direction, except diagonally. Your turn is used up when you move your “D” chips around the field in order to strategically block the other team’s goal.

4.     Aim your “O” chip to knock the soccer chip into the other team’s goal. Each goal is worth 2 points. If your player chip knocks the soccer chip onto a bonus “+1” square, your team receives 1 extra point. If the soccer chip is knocked onto any of the black squares, your team receives the penalty of returning to the “START” box to your right.
Your team will receive either the bonus or penalty, depending on whether the soccer chip is 50% or more within that particular square. If the soccer chip is not within 50% or more in the square, then it will simply remain there until your next turn.

5.     To prevent the player and soccer chips from sliding off of the board, have your opponent position his or her forearms like a barrier across the entire open side near his or her goal when it is your turn.

6.     The team to score a total of 20 points wins the game and is rewarded the golden championship cup!
